Topic: How to Prepare and Use Beeswax in Products
Speaker: Anne Richards.

Learn how to:

  • clean beeswax in preparation for candle-making
  • safely work with beeswax
  • make several types of candles, including molded candles, container candles, rolled candles, and tea lights

Anne will be bringing along a selection of her candles that will be available for purchase during our meeting.

A retired marine biologist; with a PhD in marine science, Anne is a hobbyist beekeeper, who has been beekeeping on Cape Cod for about 20 years.

At her Falmouth home, she has thriving vegetable gardens, beehives and has tried making mead from her honey. She started making and selling beeswax candles to help support her beekeeping habit, and makes some of her own candle molds from natural objects or from man-made objects.
She sells her honey and handmade beeswax candles through her small business, Annie’s Apiary.

Anne is a Cornell University Master Beekeeper and is on the Board of Directors for the Barnstable County Beekeepers Association.
