Topic: Queen Rearing Techniques.

A Discourse on Queen Rearing

We will take a look at the importance of Royal Jelly, the best time to raise queens, and how to manipulate the colony to enhance the ability and urge of nurse bees to build queen.

Speaker: Bob Hickey of Wetlands Apiary

Robert "Bob" Hickey, owner of Wetlands Apiary, currently works with a group of Backyard Beekeepers who research, study and teach various Queen Rearing Techniques.

"Our goal is to develop a queen that can thrive in our New England Climate.

Our work has translated into increased overwintering ability as well as improved mite and disease resistance in our colonies".

Bob manages between 70 to 100 colonies.

He caught the "Bee Fever" in 2006.
